Determination of Total Integrated Solar Radiation Range for the Optimal Absorption by Cucumber Plant in Different Substrates

Abstract
In this experiment, the optimal ranges of total integrated solar radiation in different cucumber substrates were determined in closed system. The ranges of total integrated solar radiation were treated with 10, 20, 30, and 40 §º¡¤§¯^(-2) (0.42, 0.84, 1.26, and 1.68 MJ¡¤m^(-2)) in the different three substrates. Each substrate showed that different amount of absorption depends on different ranges of total integrated solar radiation. The highest amounts of absorption by cucumber in perlite were 1.83 1/plant per day with 20 §º¡¤§¯^(-2) in autumn season. In the cocopeat, there was no significant differences depending on all treated ranges, and the average was 1.8 L/plant per day. In the rockwool granulate, the highest amounts were 1.89 L/ plant per day with 20 §º¡¤§¯^(-2). As the results of measuring the amount of absorption, the growth, CO©ü assimilation rate, transpiration, and productivity, the optimal ranges of total integrated solar radiation were 20 §º¡¤§¯^(-2), 20-40 §º¡¤§¯^(-2), and 20-40 §º¡¤§¯^(-2) in perlite, cocopeat, and rockwool granulates, respectively.
